ORIGIN PT. 1
Despite Kon and Shinbi being polar opposites, both are rooted from traits I am unconfident about. Shinbi connects with the mental issues I face and expresses how I see my body due to queer matters, while Kon is an appearance and personality I hide from others.
However, both hold positives attributes in relations to me. Kon is mainly based on my ideal type in a person (friend or lover). Shinbi’s appearance is what I wish to look like when or if I transition.

INSPIRATION
YES, their character designs originally were referenced from Kaworu and Shinji. HOWEVER, this isn’t an excuse for mixing them up, as Kon and Shinbi’s characterization are completely different. They had developed drastically from their first character designs.
Kon is inspired by Manga Kaworu Nagisa, Jung Hoseok, Tsukasa Yugi, and my taste in hyperpop personified.
Shinbi is trans me. (me if I fully transitioned)

STORY BOARD | how do shinbi and kon know each other?
Shinbi and Kon had gone to the same school even before the elevator incident. The elevator incident was when Shinbi was on the way home and had come across Kon’s dead body that was in the elevator that Shinbi took. Unfortunately, Shinbi didn’t report the body due to shock and trauma. The body was never found and disappeared mysteriously. Ever since the incident, Kon has haunted Shinbi. The outcome of the elevator incident was Shinbi’s ignorance for others.

AFTER THE INCIDENT
Shinbi had blocked out memories of Kon after the incident, therefore when meeting Kon when he was a spirit was a new experience for him. Their relationship was restarted due to this. Kon still had feelings for Shinbi but grew stronger when Shinbi was the only one that was able to see him. Shinbi’s only friend was Kon after the incident as well. Shinbi has developed feelings for Kon but both of them have not spoken seriously regarding reciprocating romantic feelings. However, Shinbi has not confronted Kon about them because he believes Kon is too immature for a serious relationship.
BEFORE THE INCIDENT
Kon and Shinbi were acquaintances, but Kon had a small crush on Shinbi. Shinbi cancelled out everyone at school, so he did not pay huge attention to Kon. However, Shinbi admired Kon’s friendliness and talents.

Before the elevator incident, Kon had attended the same school as Shinbi. Kons age is 19. Kons birthday is December 17, making him a Sagittarius. His favorite colors often shift, but he continues to love dark purple, and burgundy. Kon had been into producing music and enjoyed drumming. He often bought magazines and journaled/scrap booked in his free time. In his scrapbook, there are pictures he took of Shinbi before he transitioned. Kon is a sucker for lollipops and energy drinks. He is extremely fidgety and often taps the surfaces of furniture. His personality is extremely bubbly, but he struggles with serious talk and understanding his feelings. Therefore, he cannot understand the difference between platonic and romantic relationships. He is heavily inspired by Japanese street fashion and enjoys the horror genre. Although friendly, Kon spends most of his moments alive alone. With this, Kon often talks to himself, animals or random objects.
TRAUMA TW
Kon has serious issues with commitment and romantic relationships. His often reasoning for hookups is to not face the fact that he won’t be reminded he had done down and dirty with someone close. Kon seeks a serious relationship, but lust is always in the way. He has a huge sex drive and lives off energy drinks. He barely eats and has body dysphoria. Kon and Shinbi were only acquaintances/childish crushes before the elevator incident, but Kon was extremely attached to the idea of becoming close with Shinbi. After the incident, Kon’s excuse of haunting Shinbi was because he was able to see him, it meant he needed to prevent him from committing suicide. Even so, Kon is just obsessed with the fact that he loved Shinbi and seeing Shinbi not care for him when he was alive had taken a toll on him.

Shinbi still attends school but similarly to Kon his age isn’t exact, ranging around 17. Their birthday is November 9, making him a Scorpio. His favorite color is surplus. Although Shinbi attends school, he has no motivation for being present in it, as he always arrives late while being aware of it. Shinbi is into genderless fashion and paints his nails red to avoid constant peeling. The red is to replace the urge to see himself bleed. Their favorite drink is orange juice, but only boxed. He does eat, but only until Kon had started preparing meals for him, before he had chewed gum constantly. He uses stickers to cover insecurities in order to make them look “pretty”. His bandages are used for covering up scars and body parts he doesn’t like. Although quiet, he is extroverted. He is horrible at smiling. He takes love seriously and is selective with whom he hangs out with. Furthermore, he is straight foward and despises liars and two faced people. He is not an animal person. Shinbi often gets nightmares, so he is restless.
TRAUMA TW
Shinbi has a history of self harm with cutting and excessive peeling of the skin. According to Shinbi, the sight of his blood is appealing. Shinbi is suicidal and does not fear death at all. Due to Shinbi’s gender dysphoria, he uses bandages to cover parts of his body he is unconfident about or that gives him dysphoria. Stickers are used to cover insecurities such as moles, scares, or acne. The bandages and stickers are used interchangeably. After witnessing Kons death, Shinbi had given up the difference between reality and his nightmares. He also couldn’t accept witnessing Kon die to the point he does not remember Kon from before. Therefore, his meeting with Kon when Kon was a spirit was an unfamiliar experience. Shinbi lacks nutrition (explaining how pale he is), but thankfully Kon encourages him to eat and go outside. Shinbi is extremely touched deprived and does not have a close relationship with his mom and dad. His dad is alcoholic and does not live with him. Due to Shinbis nightmares, he doesn’t sleep well.

KON’S RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER PEOPLE pt. 1
DAD
SURPISE! He has major daddy issues. His dad was an alcoholic and smoked a whole lot. Despite Kon hating alcohol since then, he had accidentally inherited the habit of smoking. However, Kon was aware and tries to use lollipops as substitute.
Oh, yeah-- Kon hates drugs even if he jokes about taking them. His dad use to do it in front of him, and he HATED it.
His father was extremely disapproving in his music journey. Often damaging Kon’s drumsticks and throwing his music sheets when he was drunk.
Kon didn’t really know his mother because she was a prostitute.
Kon had run away from home one day after a huge fight with his dad. The enters the elevator of the apartment complex and was never seen again.
KON’S RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER PEOPLE pt. 2
FRIENDS�Kon is an ambivert. He knew everyone at school-- even those who didn’t know him, but his friends were casual. Usually there to help produce music with him or skate. With that said, he often eats alone and talks to animals.
Kon is extremely talkative, so he never bores his friends. His friends include Frost-- another OC I have.
Kon’s favorite pass time with friends is exploring sewers.
TEACHERS
Kon use to go to school, but he took a gap year after turning 18 and graduating. Before, his teachers thought Kon was extremely obnoxious but enjoyed his energy in the classroom. He did well in academics but had no interest in it. The teachers would just tell him to knock it off when he would imitate drumming on the school desk.
SHINBI’s RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER PEOPLE pt. 1
MOM
Shinbi has major mommy issues mainly because his mom hated his guts. She was very disapproving about his coming out and forced him to move out. When he was younger his mother never nurtured him. He started cutting at a young age because of it and his mom only addressed him as f*g.
DAD
His relationship with his dad isn’t well but better than his mother. His dad funded him to live alone and move out (mother’s request to make him move out). His dad pays for everything and expects respect back. If Shinbi ever talks back then his dad threatens to take everything away and use the “I pay for everything” excuse. His dad only visits to help pay for things. However, his dad blames himself for never being there and causing Shinbi to lose his masculinity which isn’t really true. His dad-- like most Japanese fathers-- were busy off at work and his dad took a lot of business trips.
SHINBI’s RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER PEOPLE pt. 2
FRIENDS
Shinbi has a few friends but is close with most of them. However, they aren’t persistent and clingy as Kon so Shinbi never opens up. He is acquainted with everyone and has a clean persona. Most people don’t think he cuts and the stickers and bandages is “The Shinbi Aesthetic”. Anyway, he had always denied for hurting himself. I would say his relationship with his friends are okay.
TEACHERS
The teachers don’t really mind Shinbi. Just his tardiness is unbearable and his often habit of sleeping in class. Shinbi has okay grades. He isn’t close with any of the teachers and the teachers don’t know him. Just another student.
THEY ARE DATING!
Officially starting on August second 2021, Kon and Shinbi are finally dating. They had confirmed their relationship because they successfully didn’t break up or fight in two weeks of dating!
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS IN RELATIONS TO KON AND SHINBI
I often receive comments in relations to kawoshin in comparison to Kon and Shinbi. As the artist, I find it offensive and tiresome to tell people Kon and Shinbi are NOT Kaworu and Shinji. They WERE inspired by them, but have no other correlation beside inspiration for the FIRST designs. I will leave side by side images in comparing Kaworu/Shinji and Kon/Shinbi because there is a major difference in them. The least you can do is distinguish them. You may say similarities, but saying my OCs are Kaworu/Shinji and continue saying it is extremely rude. I would love for people to see them as their own characters and only to stem from me. Thank you.
