The Social Issue:

The social issue we are trying to solve is mental health. With this app we can allow users to feel better and overall have a safe space.

The Goal:

The goal of the project is to help people express themselves through utilizing the journal and resources provided but also chatting with others going through similar problems. In the end, we hope to assist people going through mental health problems through the app we will be providing.

  • A lot struggle with time management.
  • A little under half are familiar with mental health.
  • More than half are aware of the different types of mental health

James is in his 2nd year in college. He has really good grades. However he comes across financial problems. He gets the money but is now failing his classes. This leads him to get depressed and stressed.

Samantha has a lot of stress and doesn’t have good time management.

Samantha has a lot of stress and anxiety due to school. She broke up a relationship that lasted 2 years. Exams are coming up and she feels a lot of pressure from her parents.

SafeGen allows one to educate themselves about the large scale of mental health disorders by accessing various articles centered around mental health.

SafeGen allows one to track their growth as individuals coping with mental health in accordance with daily writing prompts and a digital journal.

SafeGen allows one to seek various resources designed for one further their knowledge about mental health and to seek professional help if necessary.

Networking

SafeGen allows one to network with other individuals who cope with mental health as well as certified mental health professionals.

Impact:

Our app will help the youth by having them learn about mental health and being able to write about their feelings through the journal that the app will be providing.

Throughout this project we learned that mental health is a common ground for youth and must be addressed for the betterment of a future generation.
