Mulberry grove

A sustainable, pedestrian oriented, residential development in Moab, Utah.

The original site consisted of one old house, the remnants of a chuckwagon entertainment venue, and abandoned farmland.

Half the development is in permanent open space, with the development rights held by a land trust. Utah Open Lands staff meets with development partners to discuss agricultural land management.

Non-culinary surface water feeds a pond, which provides pressurized irrigation water to the neighborhood.

Parking is clustered at the periphery. Paving slopes towards curbless planters so rainwater can support the landscape. After a few years trees are well on their way to providing shade, and xeric plants crowd out weeds without manual or chemical help.
