Over the course of the year, students will be building upon and developing the reading, writing and speaking skills they have learnt from Primary. These include analysing reading material to comment on both language features and messages within texts, writing a range of fiction and non-fiction pieces, and engaging in both formal and informal discussions and debates.

Students will be assessed using a set of Cambridge standards which are used to inform them of both their strengths and points of improvement in specific areas of the subject.

With this growth mindset, students will be continually assessed, both formally and informally, throughout each term in order to inform them of how and where they can improve. Assessments, at this stage, are a platform to teach students self-awareness and reflection, thus empowering them to make whichever changes necessary in order to succeed in each and every subject.
