What we need:
We’re looking for a mobile developer and a backend developer to work with us (PT or FT okay) for the next 3-6 months. Then, post-funding, we hope you will join us FT with salary, benefits and equity as compensation. Most efforts to bring tech to the activity of carpooling have focused on matching people who have common destinations. We think this is flawed. A better approach is to match people who have common origins because such people are often headed in the same direction at about the same time. In fact, we are confident that overlaps in departure times and routes happen so often that part of our investment thesis reads as follows: people in similar locations make similar trips.
What we’ll together achieve:
To validate our investment thesis, we need to run an overlap experiment. To do this, we need to build an overlap tool (both IOS and Android) that groups of highly proximate individuals can download to their phones and keep running in the background while they go about their lives, for about one month. Specifically, each group will have 5-10 participants who either live in the same neighborhood, attend the same school, or regularly visit a shared location for some purpose. In the experiment’s subsequent monthly cycles, the group size should grow to generate more overlap data.
