About The Curriculum

  • The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is based on 38 objectives for development and learning that focus on all the areas that are most important for school success: social–emotional, cognitive, math, literacy, physical, language, social studies, science and technology, and the arts. These objectives are built into every activity that happens in the classroom, which means that all day long, the teacher is helping your child build skills and knowledge in these important areas.
  • In The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, learning happens through studies. Studies, which span several weeks, are in-depth, project-based investigations of topics that are part of your child’s everyday life. In a study, children raise questions about the topic and find answers by exploring, experimenting, and investigating in a hands-on way—through activities that take place in the classroom and outdoors.
  • We DO NOT do homework, ditos, or worksheets.

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that promotes exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. Following a consistent routine day after day gives children the sense of security they need to make choices and take risks, which opens the door to exciting learning opportunities. The Creative Curriculum approach focuses on the whole child.

Daily pieces of The Creative Curriculum include…

  • Question of the Day
  • Discussion Prompts
  • Intentional Teaching Experiences
  • Anchor Charts
  • Mighty Minutes
  • Shared Writing
  • Book Discussion Cards

We start off the first six weeks of school each year with the Beginning of the Year study that focuses on the rules, routines, procedures, etc. of school. Then we move on to one of the many different studies offered from The Creative Curriculum such as balls, trees, insects, clothes, pets, and so much more!
