EV & Battery Manufacturing Training Journey
Expanding from Automotive Service to High-Voltage EV Battery Production & Industrial Automation

Responding to Local & National Drivers
Industry Demand & Service Focus
Automation Principles
Battery production relies heavily on generalized industrial automation principles like traditional auto assembly.
While specific tooling configurations are required for battery cells, the core automation architecture and robotics closely mirror standard manufacturing lines.
Employer Feedback
During industry roundtables, regional employers urged Mott CC to expand focus into EV battery manufacturing.
This marked a distinct strategic direction from vehicle repair, shifting workforce priorities toward automated production and high-volume assembly cell operations.
Pivot to Battery Manufacturing
Managing the Voltage Factor
The primary differentiator in EV manufacturing and service is high voltage. Once de-energized, an EV presents no more mechanical danger than a standard gasoline truck.
Curriculum Structure: Training was built to establish basic electrical mastery first, then systematically scale into high-voltage protocols and safety rigor.
Department Synergy: Automotive faculty authored the service track, while Automation instruction spearheaded electrical & battery building modules.
Safety protocol mastery is the foundational prerequisite for all high-voltage learning modules.
