MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES

  • Before you choose your classes and meet with your counselor, you need to pull up your transcript.
    • To access your transcript, you will go to Infinite Campus -> the “Documents” tab on the left-hand side -> click on “Custom Unofficial Transcript”
  • A few things to think about when choosing your classes:
    • Which diploma type am I shooting for?
    • What are my plans after high school?
      • Should I focus more on career ed classes vs. college prep? Or the opposite?
      • What are the requirements to get into the college or other program that I am I hoping for after high school (you will need to do some research)
    • What do I need in order to get scholarships?
  • READ THE COURSE CATALOG!
    • You need to be aware of the course prerequisites and expectations before choosing a class because once the school year starts, we cannot change your classes

MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP

  • As a Nevada high school student, you will become eligible for a Millennium Scholarship (up to $10,000!!) when all of the following conditions are met:
    1. You must graduate with a diploma from a Nevada public or private high school in the graduating class of the year 2000 or later;
    2. You must complete high school with at least a 3.25 grade point average calculated using all high school credit granting courses.
    3. If you have Under a 3.25 GPA you can still qualify if you meet one of the following:
      • ACT Composite of 21
      • SAT 1070 in Reading, Writing and Math sections
    4. You must have been a resident of Nevada, as defined by the Board of Regents’ policy (Title 4, Chapter 18, Section 18), for at least two of your high school years.

    • Class of 2010 and beyond must take the following core courses:
      • High School Course Units
        • English 4
        • Math (including Algebra II) 4
        • Natural Science 3
        • Social Science and History 3
        • TOTAL 14

WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT MY CLASS CHOICES?

  • You have until the last week of school (May 21st) to make changes to your schedule. Please email your counselor before this time.
  • The earlier you make changes to your schedule the better the chance we will be able to make the change. Classes do fill up.
  • After May 21st we will only be able to make changes for the following reasons:
    • Graduation requirement fulfillment
    • Misplacement due to previous grade or lack of recommendation by teacher
    • Successful completion of summer school course work

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR MY CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR?

  • Step 1: Discuss your classes with your parents and read the Course Catalog
  • Step 2: Go to the Counseling Website and find the link to the elective form for your class – this needs to be completed by the end of the day, Friday, March 13th!
    • If you don’t complete this form, your counselor will have to choose your electives for you!
  • Step 3: You will meet with your counselor and receive a list of your tentative classes for the 26-27 school year.

  • REMEMBER – IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND ON YOUR CLASSES, YOU MUST LET YOUR COUNSELOR KNOW BEFORE THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR (May 21st at the latest)! ALL SCHEDULES ARE FINAL AFTER THIS DATE!
  • STARTING IN APRIL you will be able to see this list of classes in Infinite Campus.

    • At the school website, scroll down until you see your counselor’s photo and it says “Click here for Counselor Resources”
    • On the left hand side of the Counseling website, expand the “Registration Information” arrow and then click on “Course Catalog”
