• You can have a good transcript or a not-so-good transcript—it’s your choice! (see examples)

How are credits earned?

1. By semester
2. 70 or above per semester grade &
3. 90% attendance in each class

What is the 90% attendance law?

• TEC 25.092, Minimum Attendance for Class Credit
• (a) Except as provided by this section, a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered.
• A student CANNOT miss more than 4 days per semester

Failing grades come from…

1)Not turning in assignments

2) Not studying for tests

3) Not paying attention in class

4) Not understanding material

5) Not attending each class

Solutions

​

1. Using a day planner/agenda to remind you of homework
2. Organize binder; put assignments behind the correct divider so they will not get lost
3. Turn in homework and assignments on time to avoid late penalty
4. Study class notes and/or vocabulary at least 20 minutes a night
5. Prepare for tests by making a mock-test from notes and assignments; or test each other

1. Keep alert in class; do not participate in talking to others unless it is part of the assignment.
2. Attend morning, after school, and evening tutoring; inform parents, teachers, and counselor of difficulty in understanding.
3. Be here to learn; tardies and office referrals result in ISS and other consequences which prevents you from being in class.

• Even if you earned a 95 in a class, if you had more than 4 absences, you will not receive credit and will have to repeat the course.

• We are still reviewing appeal forms.
