HONORS AND AP COURSES

At Hickman we pride ourselves on having students who meet high expectations.

When selecting your courses, please consider having a class that may be a “reach class” for you.

A “reach class” is where you might have to stretch a little more or work a bit harder, but it will prepare you better for your goals.

When you sign up for an honors and AP class we want you to do so with the intention of staying in the course.

Please know that honors and AP classes are different from survey sections of a course.

        • You’ll likely read more challenging books in a “reach class”
        • You may have less practice and on more standards (or topics)
        • Time to complete assignments and projects may be less
        • More reading, working, studying outside of class
        • You will get the support of teachers and classmates
        • GPA Calculations are different for Honors (+0.5) and AP (+1.0)
