Radio Facts

Created in the 20th Century, It’s the oldest broadcast medium that stills being relevant and has evolved with the technology.

Almost 90% of the adults tune the radio on a weekly basis, most of them tune the live radio (71%) younger audience spent less time (29%)

their revenue has increased since 2015 in a 1,4% to 519 million with national advertisement

In 2015 over 40% of radio listeners listened to the radio on digital devices

A Public Service Broadcast is intended for pure public benefit rather than to serve commercial interests and their responsibilities are dictated by the state

All their intentions are Inform, Entertain and Educate

  • The BBC has 100% PBS remit
  • ITV has a much smaller PBS remit
  • Channel 4 has a large, but slightly different PBS remit
  • Channel 5 has a tiny PBS remit

OFCON is in charge of ensuring broadcasters keep their PBS remits
