Survey Findings

2 of 24

Objective

Through this study, we are trying to understand if the Water Quality Management (WQM) model is effective in supporting systems to create leadership across safe water programs in India

Assessment Study Roll-out approach

  1. We started with the initial TEST survey form to be sent to 2 people from each batch to understand how they are responding to the questions

  • Then updated the form (introduced Hindi) and sent it to all the WQM participants across 11 batches

  • Out of the total 950 participants of the WQM Course from Batch 1 to Batch 11,  135 have responded to the initial Survey form (14% of WQM course Participants)

  • Basic analysis of the responses received

  • Sampling for the final selection WQM participants for one-on-one interactions.

  • Finalize Detailed questionnaire . Interactions/interviews also consider people to compare how they did things earlier and how they do them after the course, considering that the mandate has been a constant

  • Conduct detailed interviews with sampled list of respondents

  • Analyse, Synthesize and present the final report

Summary- WQM Content Usage

  • Out of the total responses received from Batch 1 to 11 (135) , more than half participants (68.1%) have used the WQM course content post the sessions as well
  • The WQM content is mainly being used by the WQM participants for training other members of the district/block teams as well as the community members
  • Further it is also being converted in the local language/localised context for the training purpose
  • The WQ IEC tools such as the Safe Water Learning Cards/5 finger poster are being used by over 60% of the respondents for their own self knowledge as well as training field functionaries/community members. This could possibly be due to the easier explanation of WQ related problem, steps to be taken to address the problem, household level solutions and SWLC being made available/converted in local languages.

Sampling Strategy

  • Out of the total 950 participants of the WQM Course from Batch 1 to Batch 11,  135 have responded to the initial Survey form

(14% of WQM Participants)

  • Out of these 135 WQM participants who have responded,

90 are directly involved in the Jal Jeevan Mission across different cadres and administrative levels

  • Regarding the sampling strategy for detailed one on one interviews , our first criteria is the WQM participants directly involved in the Jal Jeevan Mission = 90

  • Out of these 90, we will randomly select ⅔ of the participants

(Kindly refer to the table here)

*Also ensure that

-We will specifically include WQM participants who did not benefit from the course

-Reach out to some of the WQM participants who have not responded to the survey form but are taking ahead the learnings in their areas of action as per INREM’s knowledge
