THE BIG PICTURE

What Are We Completing?

Your Goal Setting Plan has two big parts.

SECTION 1

SELF-ASSESSMENT

Where am I right now in my professional practice?

SECTION 2

SLO + PPG

SLO: Where do my scholars need to grow?

PPG: Where do I need to grow?

REMEMBER:

SLO = SCHOLAR GROWTH

PPG = YOUR GROWTH

SECTION 2 | STEP 4

Your Two Goals: Understand the Difference

SLO

STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Measures SCHOLAR GROWTH

“What measurable academic growth will the scholars I serve demonstrate?”

PPG

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE GOAL

Measures YOUR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

“What specific part of my practice will I intentionally improve?”

EASY WAY TO REMEMBER:

SLO = THEY GROW

PPG = I GROW

SECTION 2 | SLO

You Do NOT Need to Create a School Goal

WE ALREADY HAVE OUR SCHOOLWIDE GOALS.

Our SLOs are aligned to the MCP 38th Street 2026–27 School Growth Plan. The plan identifies both student achievement and MAP growth in Reading and Math as school priorities.

COPY / USE THIS SLO:

By Spring 2027, at least 50% of the scholars I serve will meet or exceed their individual Fall-to-Spring MAP Reading growth targets, as measured by NWEA MAP Reading. I will support scholar growth through strong Tier I instruction, daily checks for understanding and instructional adjustment, differentiated instruction, scholar-work analysis, timely reteaching, and rigorous opportunities for reading, writing, and academic discussion. Progress will be monitored throughout the year using MAP, curriculum assessments, formative data, and scholar work. This goal supports MCP 38th Street’s schoolwide goal of increasing Wisconsin Forward Reading proficiency from 31% to at least 40%.

MATH SLO

Math SLO: For K4-2 + 3-8 Math + Science

FOR MAP-ASSESSED GRADES, USE THIS SLO:

By Spring 2027, at least 50% of the scholars I serve will meet or exceed their individual Fall-to-Spring MAP Math growth targets, as measured by NWEA MAP Math. I will support scholar growth through strong Tier I mathematics instruction, multiple representations, daily checks for understanding, scholar-work analysis, immediate reteaching, targeted small-group intervention, and data-driven lesson adjustments. Progress will be monitored throughout the year using MAP, curriculum assessments, formative data, and scholar work. This goal supports MCP 38th Street’s schoolwide goal of increasing Wisconsin Forward Mathematics proficiency from 24% to at least 34%.

K4 NOTE: The School Growth Plan does not identify MAP as the K4 measure. K4 staff should use the designated K4 mathematics assessment and growth measure provided by school leadership rather than inserting MAP data.

STEP 6 | PPG

Now: Your Professional Practice Goal

This one should NOT be the same for everyone.
