Key Takeaway
Sharing my background, values, beliefs, and identity will allow my mentor to get to know me better. One way I can share these concepts is through poetry.
I Am From
I am from my headphones, sneakers and journal,
I am from Latino culture, good music and
joyful summers spent outdoors in community
I am from making empanadillas in the
kitchen with my grandmother
I am from “tell me who you go with and I will tell you who you are,”
From “kindness makes the world a better place”
I am from the PR even if it is far from me now
I am from one dollar pizza slices and slushies,
And people watching in the park
I am from power and resilience
