NSRF: Chalk Talk Protocol

• No one may talk at all during the designated time
• All comments should be written on the board/paper
• Use designated markers for the whiteboard wall
• You may respond to comments by
• adding related or contrasting thoughts
• drawing a line to similar comments
• adding exclamation marks, stars, smiley faces to a comment
• drawing a picture that shows your thinking

1. What is your big takeaway from today?
2. What supports do teachers need to support math instruction?
3. How can we involve more people within our school community into the math conversation?
4. What is an actionable step you will implement at your school?
