General situation in Germany

  • Public transport is -depending on the city- kind of expensive (single ticket – short distance/one way can cost from 2,40€ to 3,40€)
  • Cars are the most used item, due to comfort and culture (Germany as an important „Car-Country“ (BMW, VW, Audi, …))
  • Germany has 57 cars per 100 residents 
  • „green“ alternatives like rentable bikes are common and avaliable in bigger citys (as an add-on to E-Scooters)

Student-tickets

  • University organizes „Basisticket“ for 75 €: usable at the Weekend and after 7 p.m. for the whole Semester
  • Possibility to buy "Zusatzticket“ for 207 € to use public transport for the whole Semester
  • Both are valid in the metropolitan area Nürnberg

-> 283 € x 2 Semester = 566€ per year

(still: regular Ticket per month for the metropolitan area: 303, 40€ )

Sozialticket�"Solo 31 Nürnberg Pass"

  • For owners of the "Nürnberg-Pass", possibility to buy the Sozialticket since 01.01.2021 (Nürnberg Pass is for low income people and families, possibility to partake in a variety of offers in categories like education, culture, sports and also public transport for a reduced price)
  • "Solo 31 Nürnberg-Pass" is a ticket valid in Nürnberg and Fürth for 31 days which costs 15 € ( instead of 80,10€)
  • A few cities have this concept of a "Sozialticket"

Support for people with disabilities

  • People with disability can buy a insert for their disability id card
  • Granted for people with walking-disabilities (G), blindness (BI), deafness (GL) or people who are dependand on critical care (H)
  • Costs: 95 € per year 
    • free if you get social support
    • Free if you the person depends on critical care
  • Valid in every city in germany
  • One companion rides for free (B)

  • Inexpensive
  • Energy efficient and climate friendly/ neutral
  • Better connections for rural areas

-> needs to be a true alternative to cars for most people

First initiatives

  • it's planed that in May 2022 public transport  is going to cost 9€ per month 
    • this is going to last 3 month 
  • tickets are only available online 
  • people who already purchased other tickets get refunded
