OUR IDEA

  • A system of pager like communication devices that form an ad hoc network during communication blackouts caused by disasters.
  • These devices can be part of an emergency kit or can be air-dropped in disaster struck areas.
  • These devices form a mesh network of their own not hence can work even in a disaster situation where existing infrastructure is rendered inoperational.
  • These devices can only receive data sent by those entities authorised by Disaster Management Entity

5 of 7

  • Each pager device is capable of creating a network of about 1 KM wide using LoRa technology.
  • The devices can connect with each other and create a mesh network.
  • GATEWAYS : Devices present with first-responders serve as a signal-booster, increasing the range of the network.
  • Disaster Management Entity (DME) :The organisation responsible for centralized command of resource and information distribution during disaster response.

Dashboard

  • Our system contains a dashboard that the DME’s use in addition to the communication devices.
  • The dashboard displays crucial data from a plethora of sources and monitors the data for abnormal activity.
  • If any such activity is detected, the system alerts the operators and calls for a vote to determine if a disaster alert is required
  • If the minimum number of votes are met, an alert is sent out to all the devices in the network.
