Day 11 - Mekong Delta

After driving to Ben Tre Province, we will tour Vinh Trang Pagoda, an ancient architectural marvel, en route to Hung Vuong Pier. There we will board our own private boats as we take in the Mekong Delta and sip coconut juice. We will visit coconut groves, fruit orchards, brick workshops, and sample homemade products such as coconut candies and rice cakes. After a short walk, we will visit a local family and learn how to make sedge mats and enjoy tea with tropical fruits. Next, we will explore the local village on, “Xe Loi,” a type of motorized rickshaw. We will enjoy lunch along the river and then board a sampan for a tour of the canals. Finally, we will return to Saigon.

Day 12 - Departure from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)

Departure from Saigon. Our return will be similar to our journey to Vietnam. This will be solidified once tickets are officially booked.

  • Flight costs might make the price go down, but not up. We accounted for this in our cost estimate of $3000.

  • Submit funds to Mrs. Mercado
    • Subsequent deposits can be made to Mrs. Mercado as well.
    • Checks made payable to: Baker High School
    • Debit/Credit Card Payments are accepted! Ask for Mrs. Mercado to make those payments.
  • Let us know if you need some flexibility to the initial deposit deadline - we know it is tight!
  • We are hoping to get tickets purchased before the holiday season to take advantage of off-peak pricing. :)

PASSPORTS: https://www.usa.gov/apply-adult-passport

APPLICATIONS: Deliver to the Courthouse in the Clerk’s Office. Need an original or certified birth certificate. They can help you track those down in that office too.

If you currently have a passport, make sure it DOES NOT EXPIRE BEFORE September 30th, 2025. If so, you must renew before leaving the country.

Upon arrival: Need $25 cash and two passport size photos. I will research the online visa process to see what that involves. We may pivot--plenty of time to decide.

General Rules for Student Travel during Spring Break Trips

  • Students are expected to participate every day on all tours and excursions.
  • Students are expected to stay with their chaperones at all times; they must ask permission and take a peer for even temporary things like using restrooms, etc. Buddy system at all times.
  • Students are expected to use Whatsapp chat to stay connected with the group at all times.
  • Students will refrain from consuming drugs and alcohol at all times despite any laws to the contrary while traveling. We will follow all U.S. laws and 5J policies regarding the same.
  • Students will abide by curfews and bedchecks set by the chaperones in each destination city.
