November Meeting Report: All About Quilts of Valor
At our November meeting, on Tuesday, November 16, Lt. Col. Janice Wilmot (USAF NC, ret.) and Capt. Sue Young (USAF NC, 1974-77) shared details of the program at the Guild’s monthly meeting. They talked about how the quilts are created, who qualifies to be awarded a quilt, and how you can join this very rewarding project to thank our military members and veterans for their service. More info is at qovf.org.
They also awarded a quilt to Lewis A. Caputa, a 97-year-old WWII US Navy veteran. He was especially moved by Sue’s statement that “every stitch is a thank you and a prayer,” because that meant that there were thousands of prayers sewn into his, and every other, quilt.
Out local QoV group began in January of 2012, and has awarded more than 850 quilts in ten years.

Patty Bouteiller
This was our mystery quilt last February. Just finished the binding. It's called Poppies, I just love it.

I finished this in November for a friend's grandchild. Sue Royal quilted it for me.

Another covid quilt finally quilted & finished. It is a raffle donation to my Gun Club in Connecticut. Hope they like it..
Sonia Sanchez
I took a class to make the star but added the borders because the star was too small to do anything with. Then I took another class to learn how to do edge to edge quilting with my embroidery machine.
Carol Smucker
Here is a picture of my Christmas quilt. It’s the first Christmas quilt I’ve made. 46X 52.5 inches. I love the bright colors. Once I figured out how to piece the trees, it was quick and fun to make. My husband hung it up this morning as a Christmas decoration on the fireplace chimney.
Sue Young
This Christmas wall hanging/table runner is from the Snowman Block of the Month pattern from Jacquelynne Steves.
That’s all folks! See you December 14!
