Artist Statement (My Collage)

My audience is meant for people who are interested in what my favorite sports are. The audience this is meant for are for people who don’t know me all too well. The feeling you’re supposed to get is a feeling of all of my favorite sports. The main colors i used were Red, Black, and White. The reason for this is that my favorite soccer teams use these colors. My favorite soccer team AC Milan were a red and black striped jersey, while Real Madrid wear an all white jersey. The font style i used was Trajan, i used it because, it fit with all of the other edits i made to the other pictures. The reason for the specific soccer images are because, they show some of my favorite soccer players. The 3 soccer players are (in order from left to right), Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Kaka, and Ronaldinho. My favorite MMA Fighters are (in order from left to right), Anderson Silva and Carlos Condit. The main tools that i used where: Quick Selection, Transform, and Move tool. Overall the collage came out really good. The only difficulties i came across was selecting excess stuff from pictures.

Artist Statement (Freedom Friday) #1

The audience of my Freedom Friday Project were for people who are interested in wrestling. This year (17/18 school year) we have the best opportunity to win our league. The league has been dominated by Montclair High School and Alta Loma High School, Colony’s wrestling team is now peaking at the right time in which currently, both teams have lost top wrestlers due to them being seniors. Hopefully the audience would want to join the wrestling team and help win the school’s second League Title. What i put on the poster was Text and pictures. The biggest challenge I faced was finding a good picture of actual Olympic Wrestling. Overall I thought this project came out really nice and clean.

Artist Statement Infant Retouch Photo

This Retouch project was made for people who don’t know how to use other tools in Photoshop. I hope the audience would react to this project in a positive way. I chose this picture because it looked really simple, and it didn’t need too much fixing. One of the many items I added is that I got rid of some of the cracks in the picture. Another addition that i made is that i changed the color of the shirt to a light green. One challenge that I faced was brightening her eyes and teeth, and trying to bring out her eyes. The reason for the difficulty in brightening her eyes and teeth were because it was difficult to tell if i actually whiten them because the picture is in black and white. The reason for darkening her eyes was because I couldn’t figure out how to use the burn tool. Overall, I thought the final product came out really good.

Artist Statement (Freedom Friday # 2)

For this Freedom Friday Project, I designed a league schedule for Colony’s Wrestling team. The audience targeted for this Freedom Friday is for anyone who wants to support the wrestling team. This is the best chance for this team to win the league. Montclair High School are the favorites to win the league, while Colony is second, and Alta Loma is third. The layers used to create the schedule were: all of the high school’s logos and the text tool. The biggest challenges were finding all of the correct high school logos for each team. Another was to make sure that the logos and text were centered together and proportional.

Artist Statement: Movie Poster

This Artist Statement is for my movie poster. The audience intended are for all of the supporters of the soccer club AC Milan. I want the audience who don’t know much about the club, to get to know more about one of the most prestigious soccer clubs around. I want them to feel excited for every time they won Serie A ( the main Italian soccer league), for every time they won the Supercoppa Italiana ( the championship cup for Italian teams only) and for every time they won the Champions League ( competition for the 32 best European Soccer teams). I also want them to feel sad for every time AC Milan came up short of winning the Serie A league title, for every time they came short trying to win the Supercoppa Italiana, and for every time they came up short in the Champions League. The first tool i used was the was the text tool. That’s how I made the name of the movie. The second tool i used was the quick selection tool. That's how i got the team's logo, the team's’ stadium, the players, and etc. Another tool that i used was the gradient tool. The tool i had the most problems with was the gradient tool. The reason for this was because i forgot to create a new layer for the layer itself. So it took me awhile to remember to do this.

Artist Statement (Cell Phone Project)

The two apps that gave me difficulty, were the mail app and the settings app. The reason why the mail app was difficult was because, trying to make an envelope with shapes was really difficult, the settings app was difficult because it had to make sure each shape was perfectly centered. One app that I feel came out pretty good was the Game Center app. I think it came out perfectly because it was a really simple design. For one of the apps, I used the pathfinder tool. The app was the photos app, I merged all of the lines together.

This Freedom Friday is a work in progress. The concept of the freedom friday was to be a Dispersion Pixel effect. The athlete in the picture is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Artist Statement: Custom Drawing

For the the Custom Drawing assignment, I chose to do the drawing on Mario from the Super Mario Bros. video game series. My audience is for people who like old timeless, classic characters. I chose to draw Mario because he is an iconic video game character. One challenge that I had was, trying to use the pen tool to create a perfect circle. In order to fix this problem I used the Curvature Tool to make the curves move at a correct angle. Another challenge that I had was making sure I had outlined all of the lines, all the way from outlining Mario, to his overalls, to his boots, to his hat, and then to his facial features. In order to fix this would constantly have to switch the hide the picture of Mario to make sure all of the lines were correct. One thing that I learned from pen tool is that you have to be patient and learn that you aren’t going to get the perfect line on the first attempt. One thing that I learned from creating a Live Paint Object is that all of your outlinings are closed and joined together.

Freedom Friday #4

For this month’s Freedom Friday, I chose to make a Bob Marley text portrait. The audience targeted are for any Bob Marley fans. I honestly hope that the audience could like the picture and also kind of critique it. In order to create this image, I had to add a Gradient Overlay. Another thing I added was the use of text. One main challenge that i faced was the trying to put the original image into a layer mask. Overall though, I thought the Freedom Friday came out really good

My Personal Logo

Artist Statement (My Personal Logo)

The inspiration for my logo came from my initials and my my favorite soccer team AC Milan. I chose my initials because, it is unique to me. I want the audience to feel like they know a little bit about me. I want them to know that my initials are JB, and that my favorite Soccer team is AC Milan. The reason for the colors of Red and Black is for AC Milan. I chose the font because, when I merged the letters, they merged perfectly. I honestly feel that my logo would last for a little bit. I think if a designer would to chose my logo, that designer would just change the color. But overall, the logo came out great. The logo has the potential to become a timeless classic logo.

Typography Poster

Artist Statement ( Freedom Friday # 5)

For the 5th and final Freedom Friday, I have decided to do a text added Photoshop Tutorial. My audience is for any soccer fan who wants to visit one of the most famous stadiums in all of soccer history : the San Siro. I hope my audience reacts positively for my project. I chose this project because the stadium is one of the most decorated and famous stadiums in all of soccer. It is the home stadium of 2 professional soccer teams. They are: AC Milan (my favorite soccer team) and their bitter rivals Inter Milan. A major item that I added was the text and the white rectangle. I added the text by using the text tool and typing “San Siro”. I added the rectangle by using the rectangle marquee tool. A challenged that I faced was making the text transparent. I corrected it by rewatching the video and holding the ALT button and clicking on the Mask tool. Overall I think the project came out really good.

Final Reflection

I feel like I have grown into respecting a lot of graphic designers because, I thought that creating merged pictures for example is easy. But it is not, you have to know what you are doing, and to make complex pictures is really mind blowing, that requires a lot of patience. The plans for me is to be an athlete. I’ll try to pursue a career in soccer, and if that doesn’t work out then i’ll do MMA. I am not planning to attend college because i don’t want to be in a bunch of school debt. The only advice I would give to freshmen is to not get behind in credits and school work. The reason for my advice is because it is really easy to slack off and fall behind. Then the next thing you know you are failing a class, then you are behind credits and have to attend summer school to make it up.
