Homes

  • Wampanoags summer homes are called wetus.
  • They had dome shaped houses in the winter they used longhouses.
  • The Native Americans lived in the houses.

Food

  • The Wampanoags got their food by hunting and fishing and planting they would grow stuff like gourds, sunflowers, and tobaccos. They hunted beaver, raccoon, rabbit, muskrat, turkey, and quail.
  • The three crops are corn, beans and squash.

  • Massasoit died in 1661.

Relationship with the Pilgrims

Massasoit taught the pilgrims the skills they needed. The relationship became tense some settlers took Wampanoag land without payment. Metacom got other tribes to help fight in king philip's war. Metacom was killed and the Wampanoags lost the war.
