Art in the Capitol Contest

The mission of the Martin County School District, in partnership with family and community, is to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become responsible citizens through comprehensive learning experiences and innovative environments that extend beyond traditional walls.

Background

  • Florida statute mandates an annual 2-D visual-arts contest for middle school students.
  • Schools held contests to select two pieces of art to be judged by a panel: Karen Haines (JBE), Traci Hochstetter (PWE), Amanda Jones (MCHS), and Jordan Silvia (JBHS).
  • The artwork was framed and subsequently presented to Representative Snyder. It will hang in the State Capitol during the upcoming legislative session.
