DRILL
Game: “Name the Parents”
Mechanics:
1)Form 4 groups of equal number.
2)The teacher gives a number.
Ex.: I am number 8.
Name my parents by using any of the 4 processes.
3)The teacher gives the condition e.g. – I’ll count 1 to 10 when I reach 10 everybody stops. Some pupils acts as observer – as to which group did it fast.
4)The game starts with pupil 1. He writes his answer on the board, gives the chalk to the next child, and goes at the back. This continues until everyone in the group has given his answer.

Why is it necessary for us to save water?
The older style of water meters are those with small dials. It looks like a series of small clocks that turn clockwise. The unit we use for his measurement is cubic meters (m3). The rules of reading a water meter with dials are similar to the way an electric meter is being read.

Reading Water Meters
To read water meters:
2. When the pointer is directly on the number, look at the dial to the right. If it has passed zero, use the next higher number. If the dial has not passed zero, use the lower number.
3. Record the numbers from right to left.
Discuss Example #4: Read and interpret the dials on the meter below. The rightmost dial has the highest value.
To get the exact meter reading, start from right to left or the highest numbered dial (clockwise)
So, the water meter shows 3518. Today, most households use a water meter with odometer to measure the amount of water consumption.
See picture below.
Like in the electricity, the water consumed is also measured by a meter and is expressed in cubic meters.
The water meter is not the same as the electric meter. It is a digital meter that shows 7 digits. The last three digits at the right form the decimal or fractional part when measuring the amount of water consumed.
To get the actual reading in cubic meters, multiply the
numbers that appears by 1/1000 or 0.001.
1 m³ = 1000 L
So the number of cubic meters consumed based on the given water meter above is 0.592 m³ or 592 L

To compute the water consumption for a particular period of time, simply subtract the previous reading from the present reading.
Example:
The Paz family consumed 0.972 m³ of water last month and 10.965 m³ this month. How many cubic meters of water did they consume?
Present Reading: 10.865 m³
Previous Reading: 0.972 m³
Water Consumed: 9.893 m³
The Paz family consumed 9.893 m³ of water this month
