ABOUT...

Welcome to LOHS! The LOHS ASB (your student leadership team) wishes we could connect with you in school, but since we aren’t able to yet, we created this resource. In it, we share some of your peers favorite activities, and places to go around town! To remind you that we are all together by getting to do similar things, just separately. It also includes tons of helpful tips and tricks we have learned about navigating LOHS that we want to pass on.

Stay up to date and connected!

Tips and Tricks to LOHS

How to be successful:

(In general)

Cont...

[stay organized] Keep a planner - or at least track of assignments and tests and make sure to turn things in on time!

Explore the electives and different opportunities early - so once you become an upperclassmen, you might know what you like!

Develop positive relationships with your teachers - can help when looking for letters of rec.

Know what credits you need and might want for the future, so you can create balance in your schedules!

Breaks are great, but - use free periods/study halls to get stuff done, it will make you feel better than staying up till 12am!

Setting a timer when working on longer assignments can push you to be more efficient

Try to make classroom friends, they can be a valuable resource!

Develop good habits - turning work in on time, getting to class on time, etc

Reach out to teachers if you ever need anything or have questions, they are here to see us succeed! (call them into your breakout room for help, stay after…)

Contact your counselor! Never too early to start asking about graduation requirements, changing schedules, etc!

Balance - figure out a good balance of school and life! (there is no need to take 6 of the hardest AP’s in one year!)

Tips and Tricks to LOHS

How to be successful:

(ONLINE)

Talk to your teachers! - invite them into your breakout room/stay after to ask questions!

If possible - leave your camera on, it can help hold you accountable and is nice for the teachers!

Find breaks away from the screen (read a book, go for a walk, etc)

Be a considerate classmate - if someone’s mic is unintentionally on, let them know!

You got this, keep up the good work!

Stay hydrated!

Try to make a routine for yourself (wake up at the same time, eat at the same time - it can help you stay on top of everything!)

Don’t be afraid to speak up in class or answer a question. (people and teachers will be glad someone did) and if you got it wrong, you weren’t the only one!
