Walk: go through the motions with explanation

  • Explain what is expected with this drill and ask the students to also explain their actions.
  • Explain alternate routes and walk both your primary and secondary evacuation routes.

Run: sound the alarm

  • Once we know our students are comfortable with the drill, practice it at full speed with the alerts.
  • Be sure to talk with your students about the drill after it is complete.
  • Remember: even a full-speed drill is practice.
