This year’s data reflects more than numbers! It reflects perseverance, collaboration, intentional instruction, and the unwavering commitment our staff has shown to our Spartans every single day. It also is a reflection of the support of our parents and the flourishing of our Spartans! While we still have work ahead, this growth reminds us that our systems, interventions, and collective efforts are making a real difference for our students.

This growth did not happen by accident. It happened because our teachers, interventionists, data coaches, reading specialists, CST members, paraprofessionals, support staff, and administration stayed committed to our Spartans every single day!

I. The data suggests interventions are helping, but some of our upper grades still have significant numbers of students below grade level. We must continue focusing on:

• Continue ACE Writing Strategy Instruction. (Answer, Cite, Explain & Expand)
• Explicit vocabulary instruction.
• Comprehension strategies.
• Writing across content areas.
• Small-group differentiated instruction.
• Student discourse and higher-order questioning.

II. Maintain Strong PLC/Data Cycles

Our PLC work is clearly impacting instruction! Recommendations:

• Begin the 26-27 school year with previous EOY data from 25-26 SY and have Tier 1 Plan and protocols already prepared.
• Continuing collaborative problem-solving during PLCs across content areas and between grade levels.

III Focus on Student Ownership

One major step we took this year was helping students better understand their own growth via Data Chats and public recognition (Weekly Morning Announcement Shoutouts and iReady Swag).�Ideas:

• Student maintain their own personal data folders.
• Continue Growth celebrations.
• Continue Goal-setting conferences.
• Classroom “growth walls”.
• Individual i-Ready goal tracking.

Students showed us this year that they are more motivated when they can see their own progress!

IV. Continue Early Intervention Momentum

Our K–2 growth is a HUGE bright spot! Recommendations:

• Protecting our intervention blocks – Ensuring our Interventionists and Reading Specialists are able to consistently provide services.
• Continuing foundational literacy supports (Heggerty & Fundations) and continue targeted phonics/vocabulary instruction.
• Using BOY diagnostic data paired with Data Team Tier 1 Plans and post 6 week instruction for RFAs and potential need for change in placement decisions.

V. Intensify Supports for Upper Grades

Grades 4–8 showed growth, but still have students significantly below grade level. Recommendations:

• Increase comprehension supports during Tier 2 Instruction.
• Implement Cross-curricular literacy strategies for students (Planning during Collaboration PLCs).
• Increase independent reading opportunities by collaborating with families.
• Strengthen structured intervention groups tied to specific skill deficits.
• Attendance monitoring and mentoring for students who are identified with chronic absenteeism.

VI. Double Down on Tier 1 Instruction

Our intervention systems are clearly helping, but long-term sustainability comes from stronger Tier 1 core instruction.

For next year, encourage:

• More explicit modeling
• Increased math discourse
• Student explanation of reasoning
• Small-group differentiation during core instruction
• Frequent checks for understanding
• Spiral review routines

VII. Strengthen Vertical Alignment Across K–8

• Early grades are improving significantly
• Upper elementary and middle school are improving too, but at a slower pace

Beginning of Year focus areas:

• Common math vocabulary across grade levels
• Priority standards alignment
• Gap analysis between grades
• Shared intervention expectations
• Understanding prerequisite skills

Especially between grades:

• Grade 2 → 3
• Grade 5 → 6
• Grade 6 → 7

These are often transition points where gaps widen.

Overall Takeaway

The biggest takeaway in our data is evidence that our systems are beginning to stabilize and produce results:

• Interventions
• PLC collaboration
• Data review practices
• Tiered supports
• Consistent instructional focus

The fact that our youngest learners showed some of the strongest gains is incredibly encouraging for the long-term trajectory of the district.

This is real progress worth celebrating while still staying focused on sustainability and acceleration for next year. 💙🤍
