Step 1: Open Adobe Rush and upload videos

To start locate videos in your computer files using the tabs on the left.

Once located and selected, upload footage onto timeline.

Click ‘create’ to open a new project.

Step 2: Get familiar with control tools!

Once videos are uploaded onto timeline, use “control tracks” to expand control tools.

‘Control tracks’ expand and offer editing options on your timeline. Making your uploads easier to handle, and giving you the option to lock, mute, and make your files visible on your timeline.

‘Control tracks’ are located at the lower right hand.

Step 3: Get familiar with editing footage by using drag option and scissors tool!

Option 1 (Drag)

This will be used to edit and size down portions of your footage that you’d like to keep, or get rid of.

  • Locate the end/start of your video and drag to shorten or lengthen footage.

Another option to trim/edit footage is the scissors tool. The scissors tool is used to split your clips and edit/delete separated footage.

*Locate on the lower right hand.

The section within the yellow brackets indicates a split, and is the portion of your footage that is available for edit/ deletion

Step 4: Familiarize with Audio!

Audio is an important element for your video. It will help the audience follow the script you’ve put together.

To isolate your audio right click on selected footage and choose ‘Separate Audio’ to separate the audio from the video.

Once audio is separated locate the ‘Audio’ tab in the editing tools on the upper right hand corner

When Audio tab is open the option to heighten, lower, or mute your audio is available. Manipulate the sound level to your liking.

Step 5: Add sound effects or background music!

This will enhance your video, and make it lively.

Click the + sign on the upper right hand, and select ‘Media” to insert audio file

Once selected click ‘Add’ to insert file onto timeline

Audio is inserted onto separate edit tab (green track), where you are able to control and alter the sound using the ‘Audio’ tool, similar to step 4.

Step 6: Adding Opening/Closing title cards!

Bring your video all together by finishing it off with Open & Closing title cards.

Locate ‘Title” tool on the upper right hand tool section, and select a title card of your liking.

Once selected, text can be edited by clicking on the title card. The edit tab will appear on the upper right corner where you’re able to alter the size, font, color, and placement.

Don’t forget the closing card! Make sure to credit yourself!

Step 7: Save Video!

Make sure you save your finished product!

Once video is complete, select the share button to export your completed video.

Name your video under ‘File Name’, and Save to documents. Once done, click ‘Export’ to save your video.
