Introduction

  • The boat can be controlled wirelessly via a Smartphone. The smartphone has an Android app through which the user can send commands directly to Boat. The boat can move forward, backward, left, and right and can also be stopped.

  • The Arduino’s Bluetooth-controlled Boat is interfaced with a Bluetooth module HC-05. We can give specific commands to the boat through an Android app installed on the phone. At the receiving side, a Bluetooth transceiver module receives the commands and forwards them to the Arduino, and thus the Boat is controlled.

1. Arduino Uno

Microcontroller will act as the brain of the boat. The Boat movement will be decided by the microcontroller. In this system we will be using microcontroller named Arduino UNO which contains ATMEGA 328P microcontroller chip. The microcontroller is programmed with the help of the Embedded C programming. Arduino has it own programming burnt in its Read Only Memory (ROM). C program is very easy to implement for programming the Arduino...

2. DC Motor

The motors used are geared L-shaped battery operated de motors. Gears reduce the speed of the vehicle but increase its torque. This is known as gear reduction. Gear Ratio of motors used is 150:1 and run at 100RPM. The setup assembly helps in increasing the torque and reducing the motor speed.

3. Motor driver

Motor driver IC is used to control the de motors. It is also interfaced with the microcontroller. 1.293D is a typical Motor driver IC which allows DC motor to drive on either direction. L293D is a 16-pin IC which can control a set of two DC motors simultaneously in any direction. It meansthat you can control two DC motors with a single L293D IC.

4. Bluetooth Module

The Bluetooth module will act as an interface between Bluetoothphone and microcontroller. We will be using HC-05 Bluetooth module for the system, which can be used as either receiver or transmitter.

Advantages

1) It is easy to operate via remote control.

2) Uses less man power.

3) Cost price is very low so anyone can afford

4) It can be built easily.

5) Components can be replaced easily.

Disadvantages

1) As the boat will work on a Bluetooth module so the range of the boat is very less, due to this we always have to stay with the boat.

2) The batteries which we are using for discharges very fast so this can cause a big issue for operating the boat
