Guided Pathways - A National Model for Institutional Transformation

Provide fewer choices and clearer program maps that lead to transfer or the workforce.

Bridge programs from high school to college, on-ramps to programs of study, and accelerated remediation.

Intrusive, ongoing advising and integrated educational and non academic supports.

Clear program outcomes aligned to employer and/or transfer institution expectations, engaging and applied learning experiences, and effective instructional practices.

Goal - Improving student outcomes and narrowing gaps

Clarify math paths relevant to discipline

Multiple measures, Dev Ed and corequisite remediation

  • 2021 Report on website
  • Only recently received raw data for 2022 report – waiting on data tables
  • Goal to be published in December 2022
  • Will include tie to Guided Pathways initiative
  • Will include expanded equity information with additional demographic disaggregation
  • VFA data available and will be updated and included
              • Will convene a data group this academic year to review indicators and definitions for data collection; also identify additional research questions

Current Status - Transfer Majors

  1. 27 Disciplines Mapped out (Working on Graphic Design and Music)

  • 265 Transfer Majors approved (are built into the new STICS curriculum database).

  • 3,831 students enrolled in Fall 2021 up from 2,214 enrolled in Fall 2020. Data soon for 2022.

  • Math Transfer Major:

Fall 2021: 44 majors, up from 21 in Fall 2020. Fall 2022 data will be out soon.

Current Status - Open Educational Resources Update (OER)

  1. Recording from the March Summit available online

2. Iowa OER website with webinars, etc.

3. All colleges are a part of the national group

Open Education Network (check resources)

4. Guidance for colleges on tenure and promotion and professional development for faculty. Lead is Rebecca Funke at DMACC for the CC’s.

Current Status - State of Iowa Curriculum System (STICS)

  1. State system of courses and programs available at community colleges.

2. Public sharing and college login system. (www.iowastics.com )

3. Workflow approval for new and modified programs and courses.

4. Phase II is building in K-12 program approval can eventually allow for tie in of programs to CC’s programs.
