Climate Change Connection

Using nature as the background for learning essential skills can help you seamlessly integrate climate topics into your existing curriculum. These worksheets can also be used as a jumping off point to learning more about plants, animals, and the ecosystems around us. Check out these other resources to involve students in exploring and understanding the natural world around them.

Teaching Tips

  • Students can complete these worksheets as a whole class, in small groups, or as part or station work.
  • There are a variety of skills represented to meet the needs of different learners.
  • Some images might not be clear to students. Be sure to preview words with students before releasing the activity. Guides for words are located in the speaker notes of each slide.
  • Encourage students to think about the natural world around them and what they might see, hear, and smell while walking through nature.
  • Some accompanying activities might include a nature walk, outdoor reading time, or a scent and sight scavenger hunt.
  • Some students may not have access to a safe outdoor space to explore. In these cases, explore the school grounds or take a virtual nature walk.
  • Encourage students to think of ways to take care of the natural world around them. As an extension activity, students may write about how they can care for the natural world.
  • Students may color in the stars at the top of the page to demonstrate either how difficult they felt the work was, how they think they did, or how they feel about the content. Be sure to follow up with students about their responses.
