Aim of the Program

  • Develop open mindedness and understanding the importance of communication
  • Enable scholars to understand and use the language they have studied in a range of contexts and for a variety of purposes
  • Encourage, through the study of texts and through social interaction, an awareness and appreciation of the different perspectives of people from other cultures

Phase 1(6th grade/ or new 9th):

Scholars will Learn pinyin, strokes, numbers, greetings, dates, age, telephone number, family members, self-introduction, occupation, time, daily routine.

Phase 2(7th grade):

Curriculum will cover transportation, colors, clothing, body parts, countries, languages, subjects, making phone calls.

Phase 3(8th grade):

Curriculum will cover Weather, seasons, sickness, hobbies, music, sports, dance

Phase 4(9th grade):

Curriculum will cover vegetables and fruits, three meals a day, how to order food in restaurant, house, furnitures, neighbourhood.

Phase 5(10th grade):

Scholars will Learn more in depth about relatives, appearance, seeing a doctor, seasons, occupations, and hobbies

After 10th grade you have a choice

Option 1: 11th-Phase 6 12th-Exempt

Scholars will learn subjects of study, school facilities, stationery, fresh market, snacks, and going out to eat.

Option 2: Ab inito (Diploma program) 11th-12th grade*

This is a two year program that will earn you extra honors for graduation. You will apply for this program during the middle of 10th grade.
