Think of someone who you see as a mentor. What does that relationship:

  • Look like?
  • Feel like?
  • Sound like?

  • Show interest in who they are, what they like, and what is important to them.
  • Limit interruptions and be present with the student.
  • Paraphrase & Summarize important aspects to show you understood.
  • Be attuned to feelings and reflect on those feelings.
  • Ask open-ended & Probing questions.
  • Focus on the student, reserve discussing your experiences or giving advice unless relevant to the student.
