Warmup Activity:Creating the boat of man
Materials to prepare:paper cup(one per person);scissors;sharpies;ruler;marbles, pebbles or Hex Nuts (recommended as they don’t move around) a large bag to carry the little objects;a big basin.
In a moment we will use the paper cups to do our activity, but first we need to finish them.
First, mark 4 dots on the rim of the cup with equal width and distance between them, as demonstrated:
Do not cut all the way down, leave around ⅖ of the length, use a ruler and a sharpie to measure and outline the depthness to be cut. Make a cut at every marked dot and make four strips with equal length or else it is a guaranteed loss for the player.
Find the upper and lower strips that can balance each other out, one for the head and the other for the feet. Draw the two hands one on each side. Remember, the cup must be able to balance or else it will drown in the water.
John3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Sermon: Confess your sins
We often will face many temptations in our lives. Will we choose to be on the side of God? Or let the enemy, Satan win?
When the devil always ends up winning, our human life will fall into a bad situation. We will surrender and perish into the dark world. Just like the boat of man we just created. When a person’s life is filled with sin, it is like a boat filled with big rocks, crushing and sinking the person into the sea of sin, unable to free themselves.
At this time, only Jesus is able to save them. So when we come before Him to confess our sins, repent and turn away from sinning. Our sins will be cast off and will no longer control us and thus, we will be set free. We will no longer be slaves to sin nor will we listen to sin’s orders, because we are completely owned by the Lord.
Experiential Activity 1: Boat of man
Activity Procedure
This paper boat symbolizes a person’s heart, the basin represents the sinful world. So, when a person does bad things, it is as if the seeds of sin are planted in their hearts. Thus, when the sins committed by them are not removed, it will accumulate more and more, eventually they will fall into the abyss of sin.
Take out the boat of man you created, and find a person to compete against. Then place both boats into the basin filled with water and face off against each other by play rock-paper-scissors, and the loser of each round will put a marble/pebble/Hex nut into their boat of man.
Rinse-and-repeat until the first player to have their boat completely submerged in the water losses
When we pour out our sins, we are free from them and become lighthearted. Our prayer to the Lord will not be hindered by sin. This is because God will not heart our praters if we are filled with iniquity.
Similarly to the boat of man after being emptied, it became lighter and can float on the water without the fear of sinking.
(Teacher can demonstrate that the boat of man is floating on teh water again. Or alternatively, let them empty their boat of man and try for themselves.)
Experiential Activity 2: Pray for God’s help
Showcase Activity
When we empty out the sins in our lives, people become very light. During this time, with a light blow, the boat of man can move very fast and far. Just like how our prayer will then be reach God easily. Now, place the boat of man on the table, and let’s compete to see which boat of man can move the quickest and farthest by blowing with our mouths.
Way to play:
Teacher can divide the participants into two groups and create a starting and finish line. Then compete to see which team can reach the finish line first. Or, alternatively, compete individually
Prayer Time
Now that we have experienced the heavy weight of sin. Let’s take a moment, each of us spent some time alone to talk to God and confess your sins to Him. You don’t need to say it out loud, just tell the Lord in your heart, but you must confess your sins so that you can escape from the control of sin. Don’t look at other people either, now is your time to meet the Lord face to face. (Give the children some quiet time to pray.)
Teacher leads the ending prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for saving me by giving up the throne of glory in heaven to come down to earth to die on the cross for our sins. You have heard all the sins we have confessed to You. Please forgive us and help us to overcome the temptations of sin, and live a victorious life. We pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
