Hello from Mr. Ahart!
Adequate sleep is crucial for the physical health, emotional stability, and cognitive development of children and teenagers. Insufficient sleep leads to concentration difficulties, increased stress, and behavioral issues. Children who get the recommended amount of sleep tend to perform better academically and develop healthier relationships. Parents can promote healthy sleep habits by encouraging consistent bedtimes, creating a calming environment, and limiting screen time before bed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 10-13 hours of sleep for 3 to 5-year-olds and 9-12 hours for 6 to 12-year-olds.
Additionally, children are natural learners, and one of the most powerful ways they learn is through imitation. From a very young age, children observe and mimic the actions, words, and attitudes of those around them, especially their parents and caregivers. This means that your behavior, both positive and negative, significantly shapes your child's development. When you demonstrate kindness, patience, and good manners, your child is likely to adopt these traits. Conversely, if children are consistently exposed to less desirable behaviors, they may also imitate those. Understanding this, we encourage you to be mindful of the powerful example you set. Every interaction is an opportunity to model the behaviors and values you wish to see in your child.
Thank you all for the support!
