WATER PURIFICATION

Our prototype: A water purifying system that it’s processes rely on river water. The system will extract river water by making use of HDPE Pipes that will be attached to a filtration net to prevent solid contaminants that are flowing with the river from entering the pipe.

Type of prototype: Our prototype is a product prototype ( an example of a product intended to be manufactured on a much larger scale).

THE PROCESS

  • Extracting river water by making use of High Density Polyethylene Pipes(heat resistant) to deliver to given processes.

  • An electric pump powered by a Solar System will be used to increase the pressure of the water to move from the river to the filtration point.
  • At filtration point:
    • The water is filtered using a Reverse osmosis filtration process.
    • The first pipe will have filtration nets to removing unwanted and clogging waste.
    • The filter will remove suspended solids and other physical contaminants .
  • When the water reaches the boiler tank, there will be a sensor that detects when the tank is full and turns off the pump and starts the boiling process to purify the water.
    • After boiling the water, the temperature cooling sensor will detect when the water has cooled down and open the valve to pass the water in the next tanks for consumption.
  • The tanks will be 2500 litres cand connected in series to each other as shown on the picture.
    • The first tank must be filled first before the third tank can be filled. Water will then be available in collection points. As soon as water is released from the boiler tank and the boiler tank is empty, the pump will start and pump water to fill in the boiler tank for another boiling process to take place. For as long as the JoJo tanks are emptied by the consumer who will be using the water, the Boling process will not stop.

COMMERCIALIZING

Technological Eco-Innovation: These technologies are both corrective and also preventive. They consist of measures to reduce the energy and material input and emissions.

-With our processor/ purifier, most of the energy comes from the direct sunlight (in solar panels)

Most villages have rivers and most villages don’t have our

type of purifying systems.

PROFIT!!!

Eco-innovation indicators :

1. Reduced material use per unit of output

2. Reduced energy use (Sustainable electrical/ energy resources)

3. Reduced CO2 footprint (solar panels & renewables).

3,1 Replaced materials with less polluting or hazardous substitutes

3,2 Reduced air, water, soil and noise pollution.

6. Recycling and re-use of other sources.
