Looks like this:

Progress

ii) Considered all our options to model it (3D Print, Laser Cut, Water Jet, manually)

We can’t print it (bed size doesn’t fit), We can’t manually make it because the dimensions are too hard to be done manually (10mm thickness).

Lauren dropped by Bechtel to ask them what options we have.

BIDC : We can’t laser cut materials thicker than 0.25” and 10mm is close to 0.4”

Conclusion : So by elimination we only have water jet cutting as an option.

Progress

Electricals :

1. Spoke to Shruthi about daughter boards and screw shields. We don’t have in EPICS, so I will be submitting a purchase order today to get them shipped. ($25)

2. Scheduled a meeting with her for next week to finalise power; portable rechargeable USB powered battery.

Issues

  • 3D model doesn’t fit on the print bed (too big)

2. Laser cutter (the one at Bechtel) won’t be able to cut anything thicker than 0.25”

3. Water jet cutter won’t be able to cut a “cavity”

(so we might just consider carving a hole out and

Then attaching a cover at the back)

4. Printing in parts won’t work as Subu told us that

They won’t hold well together if we try to attach it

Goals

  • Get our final casing printed/cut/purchased (completed)!
  • Confirm a date and time to test with children in our area
