So, any successful job request includes four main elements: the customer, the asset, the truck and the Driver. In today's course, we're going to go over your Drivers and all the different features therein! First, let's head to the Drivers page.

Open this to add or save the current Driver you’re working on.

Easy enough. Right off the bat, we get a list of all of your Drivers, as well as the ability to bring up your deactivated Drivers and the ability to add a new Driver. Now, just to make it clear, jobs are assigned to Trucks and then the Driver assigned to the truck logs in to see their jobs. Pretty straight forward!

Let's start at the beginning: creating a new Driver.

Let’s start our new Driver out with a proper name.

Look at all those options! The ubiquitous red asterisks are here, again, too, letting you know which of these fields are required. Sure enough, when creating a new Driver the first required field is their name.

Next, let’s give this new Driver a username for the app.

No harm in sticking with a theme, eh? Now, you may be wondering why the Address, phone number and other fields aren't required. This information is completely optional, and simply provides a digital record of this Driver. It doesn't weigh heavily into how your Drivers do their jobs. The same goes for their birthdate, hourly rate, etc.

The next field that IS required, though, is the Driver's username!

We’ll also need to give this Driver a password to secure their account.

“bob”

That name will work just fine. I do want to point out that your username should be quite unique, as the CRO for Driver's app only requires the username and password of your Driver for simplicity's sake. The side effect of this is that a username such as "bob" is likely already taken by another one of our providers, so it's important to bear that in mind.

How about the password?

Now that we have those, let’s see what other options we can give this new Driver.

Of course, this is required as it secures your Driver's account in CRO.

That said, as long as you provide at least 8 characters for their password, and you don't use any capital letters, then it should be plenty secure!

As you can probably imagine, there's a bit more under the hood, here. Let's click on, "Driver Options."

Clicking here will set our first Driver option.

Now, even without a single one of these options set, this is still a fully functional Driver! They can be assigned to a truck, do their jobs for the day and sign off when they're done. However, with these options you can give your trustworthy Driver a bit more functionality within the app.

We'll start with the first one: "Can Reposition Assets."

This option lets the Driver create job requests right from the app.

This option gives your Driver the power to re-position any assets a customer has on site.

This goes beyond just the address of the job site, as each Asset can be tracked individually with its latitude and longitude! Of course, without this feature turned on, the Driver will just need to trust where the Dispatcher specifies for asset locations.

Next is, "Can Create Requests."

Now let’s give this Driver the ability to edit their jobs.

Just like it says, this option allows the Driver to create basic Job Requests. Even though these job requests aren't quite as robust as what the Dispatchers can create, the Driver can still provide a customer, a job request, an asset type and even the scheduled job date. The bare essentials to get the job done!

Moving right along is, "Can Edit Requests."

Let’s give this Driver access to the Unassigned list.

Similarly to the previous option, this will allow this Driver to edit any job request on their list. Now, they can't change -everything- about the jobs, but they can alter some basic details in case the customer changes their mind.

Our next feature is another one that's a little "dispatchy." I'll show you what I mean.

One more option, here.

Come to think of it, these last two are pretty dang similar but serve their own purpose. Let's go ahead and turn on both and I'll explain.

Only one thing left to do.

There we go! See, these both go hand-in-hand. If you activate one, or both of them, it gives this Driver access to your Unassigned list. These are jobs that have been created, but not yet assigned to the proper Truck. This first option allows this Driver to assign those jobs to themselves, while the second option lets them assign those jobs to other trucks. This is mostly meant for any managers or head Drivers who are out on the road and need to be on-site to properly assign jobs. Neat!

Down below, here, we now have the option to assign this Driver to one of your Third Party Haulers (if you utilize that feature) as well as saving and deactivating this Driver. Let's save this Driver, now.

Done and done. As of right now, you can validate this new Driver to any of your trucks and they can get to work! More on that in our Trucks course. To wrap up, if you remember that red Deactivate button, then you can remove this Driver as an option. That said, if you ever needed to reactivate the Driver, then you can use this Deactivated Drivers option, here.
