WHAT ARE WE DOING TODAY? Teachers will be using the design thinking process to plan, create, and share 3 projects using equipment in our makerspaces. They will also reflect on what they learn and develop ideas on how making can be incorporated into curriculum.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? PSD Educators will be supported by technology that connects them to people, data, content, resources, expertise, and learning experiences that can empower and inspire them to provide more effective teaching for all learners.

HOW ARE WE DOING THIS?

• Break into groups and learn to use different machines (1 hour + 50 minutes per station)
• Use the Design Thinking packet to guide you through the production of each product
• During the day, reflect on how you might use makerspaces in your curriculum and write ideas on the “Makerspace Project Template”
• Share ideas and receive feedback during the gallery walk at the end of the day

SUCCESS CRITERIA

• Teachers will produce digital files in Google Drawings and Tinkercad that can be fabricated on Makerspace machines
• Teachers will produce 3 final products on Makerspace machines - vinyl cutter, laser engraver, and 3D printer
• Teachers will gain practice using the design thinking process to aid in the creation of their projects
• Teachers will brainstorm and share ideas for future lessons that utilize our makerspaces
