  • You are required to take English all 4 years of high school.
  • In 9th and 10th grades, you have 2 options:
    • Level English
    • Honors English
  • In 11th and 12th grades, you have these options:
    • Level English
    • Advanced Placement (AP) English
    • Dual Credit English
    • Honors English/DC English Combo–12th Grade ONLY
      • Choose English IV Honors in Naviance
      • Must qualify for dual credit

  1. You are required to have 1 fine arts credit to graduate.
  2. Options: Art, Choir, Band, Orchestra, Theatre, Digital Art & Animation, Color Guard, Cheer, Floral Design (Grades 10-12), AP Art History (Grades 11-12), Dance.

Health

  • You must take health.
  • You can take the ½ credit elective of health or the full credit of Principles of Health Science to fulfill this requirement.
  • You do NOT have to take it again in high school if you earn credit in junior high.

  • If you need to take Health in high school, make sure it is in your 4-year plan.
  • If you’ve already taken or are currently taking health, you do not need to do anything in this section.
  • If you choose to take Health (½ credit), you will need to choose an additional ½ credit elective in the electives section to pair with this course.
  • If you plan to complete the Health Science pathway at high school, you can take Principles of Health Science as your health credit. This course is taken in 10th grade.

P.E. or P.E. Substitute

  1. You are required to take 1 credit of a PE course.
  2. Options: PE, Band, Color Guard, Cheer, Dance, Athletic Trainer, JROTC, or Athletics
  3. Band, Color Guard, and Athletics take 2 spots in your schedule. We call this double block.

  1. You will want to filter by Subject Area to find the pathway you’re interested in pursuing. You will ONLY use List 1 to choose courses.

Alternates

You will need to add 4 alternates by Friday, February 7.

Alternates are used in the event one of the electives you choose does not work with your schedule or is full. Please make sure to choose classes that you want to take if your first choice doesn’t work.

What to Expect the Weeks of February 11-21

  • You will meet one-on-one with a counselor to review the courses you have chosen for next year.
  • Sit with your parents this week to review your courses. Make sure you choose 4 alternates.
  • After meeting with the counselor, you will hit Submit for Approval on your 4-year plan.
  • You will not be able to edit your 4-year plan after you submit it.

Paper Verifications

  • We will send home one final paper verification the week of March 3. This will be your final opportunity to make any changes to your courses for the 2025-26 school year.
