Department Ceremony Protocol

Commencement season is a time of celebration and accomplishment for our graduates. To honor the spirit and significance of this occasion, audience disruptions or interruption of speakers is not permitted.

Signs or banners of any size are not permitted.

Noise items such as air horns, bells, megaphones are not permitted.

You may not bring bags or personal belongings with you for line-up or at your seat during the ceremony.

University Agents (Dean’s Office, DFO and D-SAS) will be onsite to ensure compliance with disruption policies.

DPS Officers will be nearby onsite to ensure safety of all students and guests.

Gates open at 7:30am, Ceremony starts at 9:00am
Bring your Stanford ID for entry
Clear Bag Policy (any non-clear bags, such as diaper bags, will be checked)

Doors open at 11:30am for guest seating (no tickets required)
Student check-in: 12:00 to 12:15 p.m. in the Huang Engineering Center ground floor lobby (outside NVIDIA auditorium)

Line-up from 12:00 p.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Students must be checked in and lined up by 12:15 p.m.
Ceremony begins promptly at 12:30 p.m.

DEADLINES AND DIPLOMAS

Late application to graduate in the Spring ($50 fee) – May 29 @ 5:00pm

If you miss this deadline, you’ll need to confer your degree in summer quarter

Spring PhD Dissertation submission – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5^th

Do not wait until the last minute to submit!

Diploma Distribution

When you apply to graduate, you will have the option of how you want to receive your diploma. Please be sure you check the address listed and ensure it is current.
