A comprehensive, interdisciplinary, collaborative, and cohesive approach is required to create and sustain genuinely safe, supportive schools that meet the needs of the whole child. Efforts to improve school climate, safety and learning are not separate endeavors and must be designed and implemented as a comprehensive school-wide approach, integrating mental health and the PBIS framework is essential for successful and sustainable improvements in school safety and academic achievement.
