Do’s and Don'ts

  • Do restart your device daily.
  • Do not plug in any devices to your Chromebook hoping to charge that device.
    • Do not plug in your phones, earbuds, etc. These actions will deactivate the battery making charging and using the device impossible.
  • Do keep your device charged.
    • When your device falls below 10% minor issues will occur, such as mouse disappearing, keyboard not working, etc.
      • If that happens the best course of action is to plug in the device to charge, and restart to clear any issues.

Reactivating a Chromebook Battery

  • If your battery becomes deactivated, you may attempt to reactivate or jumpstart the Chromebook by taking the following steps:

        • Plug charger into device.
        • Hold the refresh and the power button down simultaneously for five seconds.
        • While continuing to hold the refresh and power buttons down, unplug the device from the charger. (You might need another person helping you do this)
        • Release the refresh and power buttons.
        • Plug device in and hope it works. If it doesn’t, keep device plugged and try again in a couple hours.

The battery for the Dell 5190s (which use a USB-C charger) will deactivate completely if the device’s battery falls below 5%.
