Mathematics is a strongly recommended, optional subject in Level 2.
Mathematics at Level 2 is now required to enter teaching.
It is an essential subject that is required for a lot of future career pathways.
This course leads on to Level 3 Mathematics with Calculus(L3MAC) and Level 3 Mathematics with Statistics (L3MAS)
It has a very strong Algebra focus and contains very little Statistics.
It is strongly recommended that students take this course if they are unsure of which branch of Mathematics will be required for their future career pathway.

It is mainly assessed through internally assessed standards, with only 1 externally assessed standard offered.
This course is designed for students who would like to take some Mathematics through to Level 3 and who generally find Algebra to be challenging.

The use of appropriate technology is expected, especially for the Statistics standard where the use of laptops to access appropriate statistical packages to analyse data is required.
