Essential Grammatical Awareness

  • Awareness of Tenses.
  • Awareness of parts of speech.
  • Awareness of Clause Structure that is- Subject, Verb, Object etc.

Words Re-ordering

Words re-ordering is also known as jumbled sentence or re-arranging the sentence or word order exercise.

In this, we have to put the words in a correct order to make a sentence.

A sentence or a clause is SUBJECT+VERB+OBJECT etc structure.

�Some helpful things�

  • Subject = basically noun, noun phrase, noun clause or pronoun.
  • Ex. Tree = Noun

The yellow car = Noun phrase

That he believes his own story is remarkable.

= Noun Clause

Some helpful things�

Verb = 1. Single main verb ex. run, ran, etc

2. to be (am/ is /are/was/were/be /been)+ main verb –ing form

ex. He is running fast.

3. to have (have has had) + V3 ex. They have completed the work.

4. to have(have has had) + to be(am/is/are/was/were/be/been) +V-ing

ex. He has been waiting there for three hours

5. Models + Main Verb 1st form ex. They can leave the place.
