KAET Services

Praxis Preparation – Enrollment in Praxis Preparation Program.

Praxis Reimbursement – Reimbursement for Eligible Praxis Expenses.

  • Initial Reimbursement for Core, Content and PLT. Initial Reimbursement requires completion of

the KAET agreement, W-9, and Personalized Learning plan sections of Self-Reflection and Goals.

  • Second reimbursement for individual test: Either Core, Content or PLT requires enrollment in

the 247 tutoring program and completion of at least 10 mentor hours (Paid).

  • Third Reimbursement for individual test requires 25 mentor hours and completion of 247 praxis

preparation program.

  • Further Reimbursement requires individualized plan to be developed in consultation with

the mentor and CKEC.

  • Mentorship – Mentorship is available upon request. Request is made on the application.

KAET Goals

  • Identify and prepare a continuous pipeline of highly effective and culturally competent educators

  • Diversify the teacher workforce

  • Decrease the need for emergency certifications

  • Fill critical shortage areas in Kentucky with fully credentialed teachers

What is KAET?

KAET provides:

  • mentoring for pre-service educators
  • support for qualifying assessments, such as the Praxis (Core, Content, PLT)
  • opportunity to learn from and network with university faculty, experienced educators and KAET fellows
  • Elimination of barriers to enter the teaching profession.

The ideal KAET Candidate

Someone with:

  • Willingness to participate fully in KAET programs that will lead to teacher Licensure.
  • Commitment to the success of diverse students through culturally competent practice and pedagogy
  • High level of energy, determination and perseverance to act as a positive change agent
  • Commitment to excellence integrity, collaboration and achievement for all students
  • Ability to learn quickly, analyze and problem-solve
  • Passion and long-term commitment to improving public education

Personalized Learning Plan

Applicant Responsibilities:

Complete The Self-Reflection and Goals section of plan and send to David.Morris@ckec.org for provisional approval.

Mentor Responsibilities if elected:

  • Work with the applicant to analyze their self-reflection and goals.
  • Collaborate with the applicant to complete the remainder of the learning plan.
  • Set objectives and action plan.
  • Collaborate with the participant to complete discussion questions related to the objectives and action components.
  • Complete the Mentor log.

  • 240 tutoring

  • Campus mental health services (stress, depression, etc.)
  • Dean of Students (general advice on issues that might involve fellow students, faculty or staff)
  • Career Services (assistance with resume/cover letters, career interest inventories)
  • Kentucky Educators Placement Systems (KEPS) (statewide certified job postings)
  • Division of Certification (applying for certification, permissions tied to teaching credential)
  • Division of Educator Preparation (approved programs leading to Rank changes and additional credentials)
