In more serious instances whiplash injuries can cause an immediate and long-term medical problem for the victims. While often dismissed as a nuisance claim but whiplash injuries can actually be extremely serious medical conditions in the case of the severity of the overextension of soft tissues and ligaments of the neck. This region of the neck is crucial to proper mobility and comfort for the body and any major alteration or injury to the cervical region for a patient could cause the possibility of lifelong problems that impact their ability to move freely and without discomfort. As with the other types of soft tissue injury however, whiplash is difficult to be documented in medical documents (it does not show up on the x-rays as well as other tools for diagnosing) which makes the claim process somewhat more challenging.
Most whiplash-related injuries disappear within one week, and the most severe cases will find a patient completely pain-free in three months.
If you've been having persistent symptoms from an injury to your neck such as stiffness, pain, restricted mobility, numbness, tingling and other signs that something's wrong -it could be that you have something more substantial than a typical "whiplash" injuries. The long-lasting signs and symptoms may indicate that you've suffered injury to the cervical spine (the highest C1-C7 vertebrae) and even damage to the intervertebral joint or discs. This could mean you've damaged the ligaments or muscles in your cervical region or injured nerve roots that lie in the area of your neck.
