Introduction
Harney County SD 3 is following the Oregon Department of Education recommended curriculum adoption cycle.
This year, we are adopting Health Education curriculum for the cycle of 2025-2032.

We are requesting approval for an adoption of the Quaver Ed curriculum for Health & PE.
Quaver Health/PE is a completely online platform that unites Health and PE, providing 400+ ready-to-go lessons for a full school year. Their curriculum is aligned with SHAPE America National Standards, and incorporates movement and fun in their lessons. ODE has Quaver Ed on their list of recommended curriculum for Health & PE adoption, only not meeting the criteria is one area for the Oregon Adoption Criteria.The area it does not meet for Oregon Adoption standards is the Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Violence /Abuse Prevention, however it does meet the legal requirements. Hines Middle School
Goodheart Wilcox, Comprehensive Health Skills for Middle School is the curriculum we request to adopt. This curriculum fully meets the criteria for Oregon Adoption. This curriculum provides the skills and information students need to make responsible decisions and promote a lifetime of health and wellness. It includes health topics such as vaping, opioids, social media, mindfulness, empathy and resilience, online communication, health disparities, and COVID-19. Factual, objective information about human sexuality is included in the text. Content and skills align to the National Health Education Standards and the National Sex Education Standards.

Burns High School
Essential Health Skills for High School is the curriculum requested for Burns High School. It provides the skills and information students need to make responsible decisions and promote a lifetime of health and wellness. Content and skills align to the National Health Education Standards. This is the curriculum currently being used at Burns High School. GW Essential Health Skills does meet all legal requirements for a Health curriculum adoption.

To cover the Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Violence /Abuse Prevention, the recommendation is to adopt the supplemental curriculum: Reducing the Risk, which is a high school curriculum for sex education.

Summary
Despite some of the material not being on the ODE approved list for meeting all Health Instructional Material Requirements checklist, these curriculum choices all meet the legal requirements within health education. Additionally, the district has plans to supplement the areas not met per the checklists via the use of other curriculum at Burns High School.
