ATHLETICS AT PLANK

  • Competitive Sports: Four Seasons
    • Fall: Cross Country, Boys Soccer, and Girls Volleyball
    • Winter I: Boys Basketball, Cheerleading, Poms, and Wrestling
    • Winter II: Girls Basketball
    • Spring: Girls Soccer, Track and Field, and Boys Volleyball
  • Intramural Sports:
    • Students should watch morning announcements for details per quarter

SEASON TIMELINE

  • Register on 8 to 18
    • Athletes MUST be registered on 8 to 18 to try out
    • Students MUST have up to date physicals to try out
  • Tryouts
    • Students will try out for specific sports
  • Making the Team
    • Athletic Fees: $80 per sport ($35 for Cheer and Poms)
    • NO FEE = NO PLAY at time of first competition **all school fees must either be paid in full or a payment plan be set up at the district office**

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

  • Academic Eligibility BY SEMESTER
    • Grades will be kept by semester
    • Mrs. Williams prints eligibility off Friday morning
      • Students with either two D’s or one F are officially INELIGIBLE from Friday-Thursday (it will be the coach’s discretion whether the athlete participates in practice-athletes are students first, athletes second)
      • Students will be notified Friday afternoon if they are ineligible
      • Students remain ineligible for the week regardless of if they improve their grade before the next week

FINANCIAL ELIGIBILITY

  • Financial Eligibility
    • Business office will update and publish a Weekly Financial Ineligibility Report(by noon every Friday)
    • Mrs. Williams prints eligibility off Friday afternoon similar to Academic Eligibility
      • All past due balances from your child’s education must be paid in full or a payment plan must be set up through the finance office https://www.sd308.org/domain/144
      • Athletes may practice, but will not be permitted to dress for contests

OTHER EXPECTATIONS

  • Behavior (Athletes AND Parents)
    • Athletes are expected to act appropriately at all times
      • If an athlete serves an ISI, is suspended, or serves a Saturday School, they will not be allowed to participate in that day’s activity (whether it be practice OR a game) *Consequences for detentions are determined by the coach*
    • Uniforms
      • Athletes should take excellent care of their uniforms, as well as all other team gear-athletes will be charged if their uniforms come back in unusable condition
    • Games
      • Athletes and parents are expected to act appropriately on game day-let the coach’s handle all issues with refs

COMMUNICATION

  • Parent Meetings
    • Coaches will hold informational parent meetings specific to their sports once the season begins
    • Each coach will have a set of rules and expectations
  • Schedules
    • Coaches are expected to provide a calendar for the sport prior to the season starting
    • Parents should use www.athletics2000.com or http://www.sd308.org/domain/3459 for game schedules (scheduled will be updated soon)
