What is a Problem- Solution Essay?

  • The aim of the essay is to identify and explain problems of a certain situation and propose ways to solve them by providing an effective solutions and illustrating how it works.
  • Differently from the cause – effect essay, in a problem-solution essay, you not only explain causes and effects of a problem but also give a suggestion how to solve the problem.

How to organise a Problem-Solution Essay?

  • Using point-by-point method, each body paragraph discusses a different solution to the problem or a different problem and its solutions.
  • Using block organisation, the problems may be presented in body paragraph 1, and the solutions may be presented in body paragraph 2.
  • Which of the ways are acceptable to you?

Brainstorm: answer to questions

  • What is the problem?
  • Why is it a problem?
  • What are the consequences/ effects of the problem?
  • Who/ what is affected by it?
  • What are possible solution to the problem?

Kaip skaičiuojami žodžiai?

  • Patarimas: kiek vienas savo rašto darbe suskaičiuokite kiek vietos vizualiai užima 100 žodžių
  • Rašinyje, jei teksto apimtis mažesnė negu 180 žodžių, t. y.: 179–171 ž. – taškai nenuimami;
  • 170–144 ž. – atimamas 1 taškas (iš bendros taškų sumos);
  • 143–117 ž. – atimami 2 taškai;
  • 116–90 ž. – atimami 3 taškai
