    • More focused on being fashionable
    • Amount of people that could afford decent clothing increased
  • The Jazz Age
    • Although it had to do with music, its effect on fashion was obvious.

  • Wanted the BEST and most EXPENSIVE clothes
  • most common look:

-dark three piece pinstripe/chalk stripe suits,

-fedora hats

-cigar

-Wide lapels

-a vest and full cut trousers

  • Men replicated slicked-back hairstyle and bought excessive amounts of hair products.
  • Colorful clothing becoming more popular because of Valentino
  • Influenced men to grow out their facial hair

  • When and where were they worn?
    • 9/10 men wore suits to work. → Pop. jobs in this time had to deal w/ business.
  • How did they change?
    • Previously suits were broader and looser.
    • Suits held a younger look with sloping shoulders and ties or bow ties.
    • The tie became a staple even in casual wear.

    • Wealthy = yachting and polo.
  • Prominent sports stars also had an impact.
    • Bill Tilden, a famous tennis athlete, set the standards for what tennis regulars wore.
